The APPR acronym has a small variety of meanings, so depending on where you are in the world it could mean different things. For most people however, it would refer to the Annual Professional Performance Review, but it can also mean other things. APPR can stand for approve, particularly to those people who use shortened words and acronyms a lot when texting, communicating over MSN / Skype or any other form of text based instant messaging platforms, or even over emails and social networks.

APPR is also referred to the “Asociacion de Psicologia de Purto Rico”, or the Association of Psychologists of Puerto Rico. APPR is also the Army Package Power Reactor, an Approach/Approach Mode (this refers to an aviation term), Avionics Project Planning Review, and the Annual Performance Plan Review. For full meanings on all these acronyms, you can do a quick google search to find out more about them.

The most common meaning for APPR is the Annual Professional Performance Review. It was put in place from 2002 onwards and applies to schools, where all teachers are reviewed in terms of performance levels. This includes all teachers, no matter what subject or grade they teach, and was put together by teachers and administrators. Long and short term goals are set for the teachers by the administrators, and teachers are set to concentrate on various areas to work on and improve upon. The teachers are also able to create a portfolio of their work under this scheme, so that they can easily and clearly build up a catalogue that reflects their work.
